CSI5122 Evaluation Project Ideas

Myspace Projects

Some of the projects listed here for the MySpace systemn can be done as user interface evaluation projects. You could do a heuristic evaluation of their system, or you could evaluate it with real users. If you have a disabled or elderly relative, that would be an ideal choice. Business Process Modelling Tool

Randy Giffen is working for IBM in Kanata, has developed a new Web-based tool for business process modeling (a free, limited version of which is available at https://apps.lotuslive.com/bpmblueworks/). There is a SITE account . Randy is looking for people to evaluate this tool, from a usability point of view.

Evaluation of the Umple tools

I would like someone to so a) A usability evaluation (heuristic and with users) of using UmpleOnline; b) Experiments testing the usability of certain Umple language constructs.

Evaluation of a significant Ipad, iPhone or Android application

I would be interested in students evaluating applications for these platforms. But I don't want everybody doing it, so first-come-first-served.

jUCMNav - Use Case Maps Navigator

See the website at: http://jucmnav.softwareengineering.ca/jucmnav and contact Daniel Amyot . jUCMNav is an open-source Eclipse plug-in that supports the definition, analysis, transformation, and management of requirements engineering models expressed with the User Requirements Notation (URN). URN is the first standard that combines modeling concepts and notations for goals and intentions (mainly for non-functional requirements, quality attributes, and reasoning about alternatives) and scenarios (mainly for operational requirements, functional requirements, and reasoning about scenario interactions, performance, and high-level architecture). The latest additions to the tool explore recent URN research that is not yet part of the standard, covering the areas of business process monitoring and run-time adaptation, URN model verification based on OCL, and aspect-orientation for URN models. We could also limit this to the new AoURN features .

PAL-IS (Palliative Care Information System)

See the website at: http://toh7.site.uottawa.ca/palis and contact Liam Peyton <lpeyton@site.uottawa.ca>. This is an encounter tracking system that allows Nurses and Doctors on the Palliative Care team at Bruyere to track their consult session and patient status. (They are a team of consultants who support general practitioners). The system is designed so that the online forms print out the same as the existing paper forms (which they still need for regulatory reasons). This will be deployed in a pilot in the fall at Bruyere Hospital in Ottawa.
