Oct. 2009: Dr. Payeur and Dr. Laganière were successful in the 2009 NSERC Strategic Grants competition. Their new research project entitled "Automated Robotic Screening of Dangerous Substances on Vehicles and Containers with Multi-Modal Sensor Guidance" will develop computer vision and dexterous robotic technologies to increase safety in the protection of critical facilities and for the transportation industry. The project will be developed in collaboration with Scintrex Trace Corp, a Ottawa-based company specializing in trace detection products and systems. It will involve a team of graduate researchers affiliated with the VIVA Research Laboratory and the SMART Research Group.
