Aspect-oriented Programming with AspectJ & AJDT - Part1

Installation of required Software

AspectJ is already installed in the STE0130 machines.

AspectJ and AJDT are installed in the STE0130 machines. Eclipse can be found at this location: App Virt (Q:)/Eclipse/eclipse-3.6/eclipse.exe. This version corresponds to the 3.6 Helios Version.

If you are planning to use your own machine, please follow these instructions to properly install AspectJ and AJDT. This must be done before the lab as we don't have time to solve technical issues.

  1. Download and install Eclipse 3.7 (latest version)
  2. Open the Install New Software dialog (Help -> Install New Software)
  3. Add the AJDT update site:
    http://download.eclipse.org/tools/ajdt/37/update
  4. Select the three Features, click on Next
  5. Review the items to be installed, accept any agreements, and click Finish.

The lab will be composed of the following items:

  1. Introduction to AOP
  2. Part 1 AspectJ - Handout

Marking Schema

Attendance (mark out of 25 marks)
Task A: Logging (10 marks)
Task B: Security (10 marks)
Task C: Dependency (5 marks)
Total : 50 points
