The Photonic Technology Laboratory (PTLab) was established by Professor Trevor J. Hall in August 2002.
Research in the area of photonics and photonics network technology, carried out by the team led by Trevor is challenging and this work is much needed to bring photonics to a comparable level of maturity as electronics
The research conducted in the PTLab laboratory, is of high interest to leading high-tech companies. As a result of its importance to the future of communications, the laboratory is supported in part by governmental and industrial organizations such as NCIT, NSERC, CITO, Communication Research Centre (CRC), Nortel Networks, JDS Uniphase, Agilent, Altera and others.
Trevor is also affiliated to the Solar Cells and Nanostructured Devices Laboratory (SUNLab), lead by Prof. Karin Hinzer; which has tight relationships with many organizations, including Cyrium Technologies Inc., Opel International Inc., IMS, IRC and CPFC.
