Professional life:
(1) During 1970-1996
professor of computer science at the University of
Ottawa. Founding Chairman of the First Executive
Committee of the Chairmen of the Canadian Computer
Science Departments (1981-82).
(2) After early retirement
from the University in 1996, as a professor emeritus, positions at the Information
Technologies Research Institue of the Marmara Research
Center of TUBITAK (Turkish Science and Technical Research
Council) in Turkey. Last position: Acting Director.
Membership in several NATO groups on modelling and simulation.
(3) Return to Canada: July 2001. Director, Ottawa Center of the McLeod Institute of Simulation Sciences (MISS) of The Society for Computer Simulation International (SCS).
Research Interests:
(1) Applications of artificial intelligence in modelling and simulation,
in software engineering
(e.g., software agents
and program understanding), as well as in reliability and quality;
(2) Modelling and simulation;
(3) Software systems engineering;
(4) Reliability and quality in
modelling and simulation, software engineering,
user/system interfaces, software agents, and knowledge bases; and
(5) Professional ethics in
modelling and simulation.
Publications: over 320.
Involvement in conferences and seminars:
Contributions in nearly 300 conferences and seminars held
in 27 countries.
Memberships to numerous International
Program Committees.

Since 1990, over 70 invited talks.

Master in Mechanical Engineering at the
Technical University of Istanbul (1960), and
