Additional Guiding Principles for the Spanish Terms
The Cartesian approach covered in the presentation of the dictionary project will be followed for the development of the terms in all the languages.
For Spanish terms, the following will be the additional guiding principles:
1. The recommendations of the " Real Academia Española,” that regulates all Spanish words and the Dictionary of the Spanish Language, and the “Diccionario de la Lengua Española,” will be followed as much as possible.
2. For any (technical) concept for which at least one term does not appear in the “Diccionario de la Lengua Española,” the following will be the guiding principles:
2.1 Find/create appropriate Spanish terms, from purely Spanish origin(s) as much as possible.
2.2 Find/create appropriate Spanish terms, from not necessarily purely Spanish origin(s) as much as possible
3. Anglicism will be avoided as much as possible.
4. A useful view would be, as expressed by Francis Bacon.: “Truth emerges more easily from error than from confusion." Hence, collectively, we do our best to promote appropriate Spanish terms. Any error, found by ourselves or reported by other concerned and knowledgeable colleagues can then be used to enhance current or future versions of the dictionary.
