Hongyu GUO is a researcher  at the Institute for Information Technology of the National Research Council of Canada (NRC). There he is a member of the Knowledge Discovery Group.

 

Hongyu holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and an M.Sc in Systems Science from the University of Ottawa, which he received in 2008 and 2004, respectively. Hongyu also has a B.Eng in Computer Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

 

Hongyu's research interests lie in the fields of data mining and machine learning. Specifically, his research mainly focuses on the following areas:

 

  1. Collective inference in relational data

  2. Multi-relational data mining

  3. Multi-view Learning

  4. Learning from imbalanced data sets

  5. Ensemble classification

 

Hongyu was a co-winner of the 2006 ECML-PKDD Innovative Application Award.
