Introduction to biophotonics

The course is intended as an introduction to biophotonics. The course encompasses the fundamentals and various applications involving the integration of light, photonics and biology into biophotonics. The objective is to provide a basic knowledge of a broad range of topics so that students can rapidly acquire the necessary background for research and development in this multi-disciplinary field.

Grading: In-class quiz and assignments (20%), midterm (20%), final exam (30%), and a final project (30%). The final project will be a written report on a research topic. The report will require a survey of the topic and directions for new research.
