Eclipse-based Tool Support for the Use Case Map Notation

Abstract:

The Use Case Map (UCM) notation is a modeling language currently being standardized by the International Telecommunications Union as part of the User Requirements Notation (URN). UCMs capture a high-level representation of scenarios cutting across architectural structures and are of greatest value early in the development process. As the original UCMNav tool used to create has become difficult to maintain and improve, we will present jUCMNav, an Eclipse-based plugin which aims at improving the portability, maintainability and user friendliness of the UCM editor. Following an overview of the notation and its meta-model, we will discuss jUCMNav’s the architecture and present the lessons learned during its development. Finally, a short demonstration will be given.
