Peer-to-Peer Collaborative environment

Abstract:

The geographic dispersion of organizations, the growth of the internet uses along with the technological advancements have led to the development of a number of collaborative tools that enable people to collaborate together. Two approaches have been adopted to implement such tools. The first one is based on client-server model and the second is based on fully decentralized architecture such as P2P network. These tools also differ on the various services they provide.

In this presentation, I will first introduce the various classifications of Peer-to-Peer network, second provide an overview of the pure Peer-to-Peer collaborative environment PECOLE and third give a review on video compression techniques and standards. Finally I will propose a codec to be integrated in PECOLE to improve its performance on various networks.
