Applications for Capacitors

Capacitors are among the most widely used of electrical components.

They are used in electronic circuits:

1. to control frequency and pulse generation

2. to block DC signal from certain parts of the circuits

3. for power factor correction in industrial applications

4. in the start winding of many single phase AC motors

5. to filter pulsating DC, and in RC timing circuits

6. for flashing light circuits employed in still cameras

The size and type of capacitor used is dictated by the circuit application.
