Title: Network Management Using Web Services

Abstract:

Over time, networks rapidly evolved towards service-enabled, reliable, and scalable networks. Many enhancements in networking were brought up in this “new generation of networks” such as converging many networks into one, enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) signaling, providing traffic engineering etc… With this, new differentiated services are in the process of being defined. They give a valuable opportunity for operators to increase their income from their infrastructure. Such services require bandwidth control, connection control, admission control, QoS control. They would allow the customers to have a certain degree of control over contracted resources, such as establishing connection on demand or dynamically choosing the bandwidth they want to use.

The next generation services over next generation networks are still in an evolving mode. But till now, providing the services requirements using an automated platform is still an out of the box solution. This presentation presents a solution to this problem using Web Services. Web Services seem viable for this kind of problems. Large enterprises with multiple locations and complex enterprise networks can deploy Web Service-based network management solutions to automate the business operations and to integrate with other Web Service based network management that would be managing other networks.
