Title: GIS aware image exploration
Abstract: Over the past years the amount of images primarily available
from the Internet has drastically increased. Especially when searching
for popular objects the amount of images found makes browsing
infeasible. This calls for new techniques to organize these images for
easy exploration. The talk will introduce a method of organization by
embedding the images into a virtual environment. In such an environment
users can efficiently navigate between images to find one that shows the
object from the perfect point of view. By adding geo-spatial information
to the reconstructed scene it is, moreover, possible to build a virtual
model of the world.
